Car wrecks often cause fires, severe burns

On Behalf of | Nov 10, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Running motor vehicles are the source of intense heat. Moreover, they carry in them auto fuel and other flammable fluids. This combination can cause fires and even explosions.

Collisions are common causes of vehicle fires

Designers of motor vehicles know that vehicles can get engulfed in flames after an accident.

As such, they try to protect the most vulnerable components of a far, the fuel tank or the battery for example, from damage.

However, the design of a vehicle cannot prevent all vehicle fires. Sometimes, the force of an impact is such that even the best designed vehicle may erupt into flames.

Moreover, there have been several cases in which it turned out that manufacturers could have done more to prevent a high-impact crash from turning into a heavy fire.

Vehicle fires can lead to severe burn injuries

Those who have been involved in a significant accident may have to move away from the car in order to avoid the hazard of a fire. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to do so.

A person may be trapped in a damage vehicle or may be unable to move because of his or her injuries.

As a result, too many car accidents end with a victim suffering severe burn injuries.

Bad burns can lead to permanent disfigurement and loss of sensation in the affected area.   Moreover, an extensive burn can lead to potentially deadly infections, hypothermia, profound loss of blood and other fluids and other serious complications.

A burn victim may have to undergo treatment for months, and his or her life will never be the same. If a negligent motorist caused the victim’s injuries, he or she may recover compensation through the appropriate legal channels.
